Advancement Opportunities
Troop 21 and San Gabriel Council BSA offer many opportunities for scouts to earn ranks and merit badges :
From Troop 21:
We have outings once a month. These outings benefit scouts of all levels to fulfill requirements for various advancement ranks and merit badges. We also provide advancement opportunities between 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. every Monday meeting, except the first meeting of each month. Make sure you bring your scout handbook with you to our regular meetings and outings so that completed requirements may be signed off. You may start earning badges even before you become a Tenderfoot. Remember: parents can work with scouts on the requirements for the ranks of Boy Scout, Tenderfoot, Second Class and First Class. Put your initials for each requirement that you have completed with your boy. Once all requirements are completed, let the Scoutmaster know so that a Scoutmaster Conference and Board of Review may be arranged. After the two conferences are done, the boy must let Mr. Otto know that he has completed a rank so that he may get the patch to be handed out at Court of Honor.
Our Merit Badge Counselors usually announce merit badges classes during meetings, or by email or website. If you want to work on a particular merit badge that is not announced, you may contact the counselors listed on our Merit Badge Counselors List available in our website (under Records). Remember: Get a Blue Card signed by our Scoutmaster first before you start with your counselors.
