A MESSAGE TO ALL CURRENT & PROSPECTIVE MERIT BADGE COUNSELORS:

The list on the web site is currently in need of update.

For current Counselors: Please check the list and see if it is up to date and representative of the merit badges for which you are a counselor. If there are deletions, please let me know. If there are additions, you’ll need to complete the paperwork so we can include the new MB’s. We’ll then update the web sit and get the papers submitted to Smiser.

(Please follow this process otherwise we have no way of knowing who is current for what MB and you’ll do the Troop a disservice.)

For prospective Counselors: If you have an area of special knowledge, experience or expertise that you possess, browse the list of merit badges and see if one or more apply to your interest. This is a great opportunity to share with the boys and help them along the Scouting trail as they expand their knowledge horizons. Our request is that you serve in that capacity for at least one year and when you desire to no longer be a counselor for a MB that you provide me written notice. Feel free to sign on for as many as 4-5 merit badges if you have the desire and if you do sign on, please become intimately knowledgeable with the contents of the specific MB book.. Any questions, feel free to contact me.

MB Course Scheduling: Spontaneous scheduling of Monday night merit badge group classes are strongly discouraged. As indicated during the last parents meeting, we’re trying to put together a master schedule of available classes that will be tailored to meet the overall needs of our boys. Among other things, this means trying to spread the courses throughout the September-June period and trying to minimize schedule conflicts for those boys who have multiple merit badge interests. So if you want to host a MB course on Monday nights, please see me first so we can coordinate. (This need not occur if you want to hold a large class outside of the Monday night meetings.) We’re delighted when counselors offer the time to want to help the boys and we want to maximize the potential benefit to the Scouts.

Thanks much,

Tim Otto

Cycling Merit Badge

We got off to a great start last Saturday with 16 troop members riding our 10.5 mile road course. We did a rallye course with five checkpoints and three bonus questions to be answered by completing the course. John T and Hunter K found all three answers with many other riders getting one or two-sharp eyes guys!

Our next ride is at Sycamore Canyon camping trip and will be hosted by Kevin. Be sure to sign up by or before 10/9, so Kevin can arrange for bike transportation.

Mark your calendars for March 4, 2007. That's the L.A. Marathon and we are riding it! Yes, T21 does the fun stuff and ALL troop members are invited mb or not. Details will follow down the road.

See you Monday's.
