T21 does the LAM

Sunday morning at 5:30 eighteen hardy T21 soles joined together to ride the LA Marathon. At six o'clock brilliant fireworks lit the sky and a cannon rang out. "Let's go" was the word heard down the line and we were off. Yes, our 21 mile ride was waiting and we had a BLAST!

Hunter and Johnny took off and weren't seen until the finish. Us old guys sort of stayed together for most of the ride and then drifted apart, each doing his own thing and loving it.
Have you ever seen 16,000 people ride through an empty city and the only noise was the whirring of tires? We did, it was humbling.
WATCH OUT!!! And another rider bit the pavement, not our crew. Watching this mass of humanity riding at 10-20 mph was all consuming-a crash would hurt.

We all finished in less than two hours and then proceeded up to the Rose Bowl for two laps, completing our second 25 mile ride as required for Cycling merit badge. Only our 50 miler remains and it too will be a memorable experience.

Scout Sunday at PazNaz!

Troop 21 Families,
March 18th is Scout Sunday at Pas Naz. We will be giving them our yearly fund raising donation as well as taking part in the 10:30AM church service. I need as many scouts there as I can get. You should plan get there no later than 9:45AM to help set up our booth and be prepared to act as ushers during the service. As always, on Scout Sunday, Class A uniform clean and pressed is mandatory. Please consider this an important service to the church as they sponsor so many of our activities. THEY are looking forward to OUR participation on the 18th. Sign ups for this will be on Monday night.

Thank you, Dr. Taylor SM

Best Dressed Boy Scout

FEED ME!

Congratulations to Joshua Witczak and Jared Equitz for being our first “Best Dressed Boy Scout” prize winners!

Joshua and Jared were awarded “IN-N-OUT” gift-cards for their effort to be totally IN uniform at last night’s meeting. I’m sure they’ll enjoy going OUT to dinner.

Remember, this is now a standard feature of every Monday night meeting, and every one of you has the same opportunity to win.

What put these two ‘over the top’? Well, not only were they in uniform (that is, they were actually wearing their shirt and pants), and were following the basic, Scout standards, but they went all the way. They were both wearing their name-tags and scout socks, and were carrying their membership cards. They also had their ROPE with them. Believe it or not, these “minor” details were what separated them from the few others who were in the running.

Special mention goes out to Brad Sonner, Nick Paulson, and Jason Bunn ..you guys were close.

Special thanks also to Dr. Taylor for taking care of getting the cards.

I think Jared is feeling pretty proud of himself (Joshua was too, I’m sure, but he displayed a bit more humility). Who will knock these guys off their pedestals next time?

Your leaders are all very happy you are taking an interest in this important aspect of Scouting.

Best to you,

-Mr. Equitz
