June Parent's Meeting

T21 will tackle Echo Mountain on June 18.

Troop 21 June 2007 outing – Echo Mountain Hike

Date: Monday 6/18/2007 (in lieu of regular meeting)

Where: Sam Merrill Trail – Altadena to Echo Mountain.

Purpose: To hike with the troop and have some fun!

Cost: It’s Free!

Meeting time on Monday: 5:45 pm – leave promptly at 6 pm
Directions:
Drive north on Lake Avenue through Pasadena to the top in Altadena. Park on the street where the road takes a sharp turn west.

Pick up time: 8:30 pm
same location

How it works:
This is a family outing – able siblings are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult. The hike is 5 miles roundtrip, with a 1400’ elevation gain. We will hike 2 ½ miles to the top of Echo Mountain, where there are ruins from the Mount Lowe Railway, Echo Mountain House and The Chalet. After taking a break on top we will hike down the same trail.

Transportation to and from the drop off and pick up points are the responsibility of each scout’s family.

IMPORTANT NOTE #1: There is no drinking water at Echo Mountain. Bring your Nalgene bottle. We will also be hiking down as it gets dark, so you will need a headlamp or flashlight.

Checklist – for your convenience: Water, any food you might want to eat, and a headlamp or flashlight. Ten essentials.
