Backpack trip for all August 16-18

We have a reservation to backpack the John Muir Trail from Sunday, August 16 thru Wednesday, August 19. Our adventure will start at Agnew Meadows campground (about three miles from the Mammoth Mt ski area). From there we will backpack to Ediza Lake and set up camp for two days, then head out on the John Muir trail and end up at the Devils Postpile National Monument.

This moderate rated backpacking trip is about six miles in and eleven miles out. Elevation of Ediza Lake is 9,275 feet. Activities include Fly-fishing, photography, and hiking. This is Ansel Adams Wilderness so the scenery for sightseeing and photography is breathtaking. There is plenty of stream and lake fishing spots holding rainbow and brookies about 6-11 inches. We will practice catch and eat fishing.

Great Time at Cherry Valley!!

We had a great group of 25 scouts go over to Cherry Valley this year. They were challenged to do their best, and I think they surprised themselves. The troop, under CCV Senior Patrol Leader Chad Watkins, received the Camp Cherry Valley Honor Troop Award, given to troops with high participation and accomplishments.

In addition to our Campers completing 51 merit badges, the following challenged themselves in the following areas:

20 Mile Hike: Ryan Adams, Ethan Chong, Sammy Holt, Alec Mena, Aaron Portaro, Brandon Powell, David Putnam, David Shintaku, Brad Sonner,Jonathan Wang, Chad Watkins

ACE Program: David Putnam, Brad Sonner completed the Advance Camper Experience (ACE) and received snorkeling and boardsailing BSA certifications.
