Footwear
Footwear is important if you're using your feet. Whatever you wear, YOU MUST TIE YOUR SHOES, snugly. Untied may be stylish (?), but you will ruin your feet and your trip. NO COTTON SOCKS! Cotton will become damp, stretch out of shape, fold and wrinkle, and finally give you blisters. Thick wool, wool-blend, or synthetic socks are what you're looking for. If you have thick wool or blended socks, consider a thin, softer inner sock---but no cotton. New boots or shoes should be worn for several days before a hike.
